CCN joins IATA’s e-freight program

30.11.2006 (eyefortransport) Asia-Pacific provider of Internet portal services to the airfreight industry, Cargo Community Network (CCN), has become a preferred partner in IATA’s global e-freight program.

IATA’s long-term vision is for paperless e-freight and e-customs solutions to replace the air cargo industry’s current paper-based processes. The average shipment currently results in the exchange of more than 30 documents between various parties including, shippers, freight forwarders, handling agents, import/export brokers and customs.

Singapore-based CCN offers the world’s only carrier neutral cargo portal enabled to handle e-invoicing and payment, as well as distributing neutral waybills electronically. CCN has operations in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

With connections to more than twenty airlines and 1,000 freight forwarders in the Asia-Pacific region, CCN handled almost two million e-bookings in 2005.

The new CCNhub (previously Ezycargo) dramatically cut costs for the industry players and offers a major step forward in the way they can make allotment and free sales bookings, review flight schedules, as well as track and trace the progress of their shipments.
